I am in love with fall. From a south Florida girl who never got to experience fall until I was in my 20’s I so greatly appreciate it. For me, fall sparks the creativity in me and Halloween marks the start of it all. There’s something electric in the air. Pumpkin patches, fall decor, vintage scary posters, crisp fall leaf walks, late night candlelight dinners with wine and cute warm weather clothes. Halloween is sort of the opening act to my favorite decorating time of the year. My favorite fall ritual is Halloween movies. It never fails to start with Hocus Pocus. I know my Halloween girlies understand what watching Hocus Pocus for the first time of the year means. It’s a time for mystery, magic, and hopefully some scary time.
Halloween is the one night a year where you can be anyone you want to be. It’s ok for any age and gender to play dress up. Adults get to experience the magic of their childhood all over again. Some of us embrace the theatrical sides we wish we could live, some of us flirt with sexy, and others embrace the eerie that otherwise we couldn’t admit we want to be. I’ve always been obsessed with witches and the lore behind it. Watched every show from Charmed to The Wizard of Oz. Halloween is where I can pretend to be one and I think that’s why I always start the holiday with Hocus Pocus and finish it with Practical Magic. Here’s a few of my fiber art pieces that I found inspiration from in Hocus Pocus. I’ve also added some Halloween inspiration baking stuff in Food Creations.
