My Visual Calling Card

Artists typically have a signature. It’s not necessarily an actual signature but more of a thing that’s identifiable to everyone else. Think Van Goghs swirling brush strokes or Yayoi Kusama’s signature polka dots. Kusama is the reason I got into the creative world and started playing with bold colors. Her art was the first thing I saw that invoked a feeling. I knew immediately I needed to play with colors, and I knew immediately I needed to incorporate her in my home. I’ve followed her journey for years now. I’ve seen her signature style translated from canvas to clothing and even pumpkins and as soon as I saw it, I knew immediately it was her.  Her signature was distinct, but it also secretly gave me permission to not stick to one medium. Kusama taught me to try it all.

I wasn’t sure if I’d have a signature or even what my signature could possibly be because I practice so many different forms of being creative. How can you translate a signature from fiber to canvas? Then it happened. By accident but it just became my thing. Pink and foil and eventually lips and hearts. It just kind of happened one day and it’s what I found most of my success in. Some artists sign their work with initials, but I sign mine with attitude, gold of some sort which is mostly foil, and somewhere you’ll find an xo, lips, or a heart. Feminine for sure. Sassy of course. Me in every way. No matter the medium you’ll find it somewhere.

I’m not sure where it came from, but I’ve always believed there’s power in femininity. Hearts, lips, and xo are unapologetically feminine. Adding gold foil catches the light, demands attention, and refuses to be ignored all while bringing attention to the feminine sassy side I love to play with. It’s my way of saying, “This isn’t just content. It’s couture.” I want my art to be cinematic for a lack of better words. I say all this to say; we live in a world of endless scrolls and fleeting clicks. That means consistency is queen, but it also means you must figure out how to keep the attention of the people. Incorporating my signature style into new mediums and never exhausting the last so it’s always fun and an outlet versus a job. Which leads me to my next creative outlet. Writing a fictional series. I’ll explain more in the next vlog because it’s crazy how it came to be but here is a sort of synopsis of the first book in the series…..Killer Heels Series. Book 1…Stiletto.

Rio never meant to become a government-trained assassin in five-inch heels. She just wanted to pay for college without drowning in debt. But one suspiciously glamorous bus ride later, she’s recruited into Killer Heels—a covert program where justice is served with stilettos, sass, and a side of lipstick.

Now code-named Stiletto, Rio takes down the world’s worst predators with lethal charm and a killer wardrobe. Her missions are dangerous, her bestie Sofie is always in her ear, and her dogs Cain and Abel are the only men she trusts… until she walks face-first into a chest carved by the gods.

Enter Killian O’Brien: Irish, infuriating, and built like a fantasy. One accidental collision outside a Chicago restaurant turns into flirty banter, sizzling tension, and a date she didn’t see coming. He’s got secrets, swagger, and a smirk that makes her want to break every rule in her playbook.

But Rio’s life isn’t just stilettos and slow burns—it’s takedowns, cover stories, and a past that won’t stay buried. And Killian? He might be more than just a distraction… he might be her next mission.

XOXO,

Savi Monroe
