The Unhinged Life Coach: How to Improve Your Relationships by Ghosting Strategically

Because sometimes the healthiest thing you can do is vanish tastefully.

Some people strengthen their relationships with communication, vulnerability, and emotional maturity. I strengthen mine by going completely silent for a curated period of time and then reappearing like a whimsical forest creature who simply wandered back into civilization.

Theres a delicate art of disappearing with purpose. Strategic ghosting is not about being rude. It is about being intentional. It is about creating space. It is about giving people the opportunity to miss you, so they remember how delightful you are. It is also about protecting your peace, your sanity, and your social battery which is held together by vibes and iced coffee.

This is not the kind of ghosting where you vanish forever. This is the kind where you disappear just long enough to reset your personality and then return refreshed, hydrated, and slightly more mysterious. Let’s begin……

The Classic Three Day Vanish

This is the gold standard. The blueprint. The Beyoncé of ghosting. You disappear for three days. You return with iced coffee. You act like nothing happened. If someone asks where you were, simply say, “Oh, I was around.” Around where? Around doing what? Around with who? Exactly. Let them spiral. You are the main character.

The “Sorry I Was Overwhelmed By My Own Existence” Apology

This one is elite because it sounds profound but explains absolutely nothing. You resurface and say, “Sorry, I got overwhelmed by my own existence.” People will nod. People will empathize. People will feel spiritually connected to you. It is the kind of apology that feels deep but is actually just a poetic way of saying you needed to lie down.

The Productivity Blackout

Sometimes you disappear because you accidentally entered a hyper focused state and reorganized your entire closet, cleaned your kitchen, and color coded your apps. When you return, casually mention that you “got caught up doing things.” They will be impressed. They will be confused. They will forgive you. Nobody questions productivity. It is the perfect alibi.

The Soft Girl Recharge Retreat

Your social battery hit zero. You needed to lie in bed like a fainting princess who had too many conversations in one day. When you return, say, “I had to protect my peace.” Peace is untouchable. Peace is sacred. Peace is the ultimate excuse.

The “I Thought I Replied” Delusion

This one is iconic because it is universal. You genuinely believed you responded. You crafted the message in your head. You emotionally sent it. But you never physically typed it. When you return, simply say, “I swear I thought I replied.” Nobody can argue with this because they have done it too.

The Mystery Errand Arc

Disappear because you had errands. What errands? Nobody knows. Not even you. When you return, say, “I had to run around and handle things.” What things? Again, nobody knows. This is the beauty of it.

The Soft Launch Reappearance

Do not return with a text. Return with a photo on your story. Something vague. Something aesthetic. Something that says, “I am alive and thriving but still too busy to respond.” Then reply to their message like it just came in. Timing is a social construct.

The “I Needed to Reset My Personality” Break

Sometimes you disappear because you simply need to reboot your entire vibe. When you return, say, “I needed a little reset.” People will assume you were journaling or meditating or doing something wholesome. You were probably just lying in bed staring at the ceiling. And that is valid.

Here is the truth. You are not ignoring people. You are pacing the relationship, so your nervous system does not combust. Ghosting is not toxic when done with the right intention.  Strategic ghosting is not about being unavailable. It is about being selectively present. It is about showing up when you feel like your best self instead of your frazzled gremlin self. Disappear when you need to. Return when you are ready. Bring iced coffee. Act normal and let them be grateful you came back at all.

XOXO,
