I love fall and fall loves drama. I love her in a way that feels borderline delusional, like she’s a person I’m in a situationship with. There’s just something about her. She’s whimsical. She’s warm. She’s the season that makes me believe in soft beginnings and gentle plot twists. Fall is the girl who walks into the room and suddenly everything feels cinematic. The air gets crisp. The vibes get cozy. My personality improves by 77%.
She makes me want to romanticize my life, bake something I will absolutely not eat, and wear sweaters that feel like emotional support animals. She’s the season that whispers, “Babe, slow down,” while also encouraging me to buy three candles, a new planner, and a pair of boots that make me walk like I’m entering my villain era and because I love her so much… she exposes me every year. Which brings us to the duality of today’s blog: If Fall were a girl AND my toxic fall trait.
If Fall Were a Girl: Her Personality, Her Closet, Her Drama
Her Personality
Fall would be the friend who:
- Looks soft but has a sharp tongue and sharper boundaries
- Gives wise advice but lives like she’s powered by vibes and cinnamon
- Has main character energy but also cries once a week in a cute way
- Says she’s “chill” but has 14 emotions before noon
She’s whimsical, cozy, dramatic, healing, nostalgic, and slightly feral. She’s basically all of us in cardigan form.
Her Closet
Fall’s closet is:
- 47 sweaters in “neutral” tones that are absolutely not neutral
- Boots that make her walk like she’s storming the castle
- Scarves she bought for the aesthetic
- A jacket she wears even when it’s not cold because she’s committed to the bit
- Lip gloss that somehow matches every leaf on the ground
She dresses like she’s going to a coffee shop to write a novel she will abandon by chapter three.
Her Drama
Fall’s drama is subtle but iconic:
- She ghosts summer without warning
- She flirts with winter but refuses to commit
- She makes everyone nostalgic for things that never happened
- She encourages emotional breakdowns in parking lots
- She convinces you that pumpkin spice is a personality trait
She is the queen of seasonal delusion.
My Toxic Fall Trait
My toxic fall trait is believing I become a completely different person the moment the temperature drops below 70.
Suddenly I’m:
- A girl who wakes up early
- A girl who journals
- A girl who cooks soup from scratch
- A girl who reads books instead of scrolling
- A girl who “goes on walks for clarity”
- A girl who has her life together because she bought one candle and new planner
I will romanticize my life so aggressively that I forget I’m still the same chaotic gremlin who loses her keys and finds them in the fridge.
My toxic fall trait is believing:
- A oversized knit cardigan will fix my personality
- A planner will fix my habits
- A fall drink will fix my mood
- A Target trip will fix my soul
- A leaf falling is a sign from the universe
- I’m entering my “soft era” when really I’m entering my “I need a nap” era
Fall makes me delusional in the most eccentric way.
In my world fall is a girl and she has me in a chokehold. She’s whimsical, cozy, dramatic, emotionally wise, and a little unhinged. She’s everything I aspire to be… and everything I pretend to be for three months straight and my toxic fall trait? Thinking her magic automatically becomes my personality.
Maybe that’s the beauty of it. Maybe fall is the season where we get to play pretend, where we slip into softer versions of ourselves, even if we’re still a little chaotic underneath the cardigan because at the end of the day, fall doesn’t ask us to be perfect. She just asks us to be present. To slow down. To savor. To feel. To breathe. To believe in cozy little miracles again and honestly, babe… I will happily be delusional for her every single year.
XOXO,
